On rotoworld this morning, they said, he will likely be placed on DL with shoulder injury.

the latest word is no DL (at least, yet).

They were prepared to recall Mather from Memphis to take his place if he went on, but didn't.

We'll get more when he gets a more thorough eval.

The News
Rick Ankiel will not be placed on the DL due to his injured right shoulder as the team will give him a couple of days of rest instead, according to MLB.com. "He can't swing 100 percent when it's aggravated, so we're going to try to get him well," manager Tony La Russa said.

Our View
The good news is that it isn't his throwing shoulder, the bad news is that it's his lead arm on his swing. Look for the team to go with Chris Duncan, Ryan Ludwick and Skip Schumaker until Ankiel returns, hopefully within about a weeks time.
