hes not really platooning, hes getting a day off.
with Furcal out of the lineup Pierre is going to play everyday.
with the money they are paying Jones fair or not he is going to play on a regular basis.
today Sweeney is simply getting a game at DH.
between Kemp and Ethier, are you saying Kemp should play all the time and Ethier should be a bench player? Ethier is right there in production with Kemp.

He's not platooning.

Wait, he is platooning with Ethier, and it's the right choice since their production is about equal.

Make up your mind! Personally, I think benching Ethier is the best choice (assuming that Andruw's contract keeps him in the starting lineup), and not only because Ethier's on my opponent's team next week.

in real baseball bench players are important. Sweeney hasnt had a start since May 1.
today is a good time to give him a start at DH.
i wouldnt classify Kemp/Ethier as a platoon. its not like theyre splitting time between RH/LH pitchers.
why should Kemp start over Ethier? alot of people seem to have a hard on for Kemp, but want to push Ethier aside like hes nothing. personally i think the Dodgers were stupid for signing Jones and that both Ethier and Kemp deserve to be starting. it would have been better if they could have traded Pierre, but that didnt happen.
Torre has a tough job finding AB for both Kemp and Ethier while still getting other players theyre playing time.
not only are Kemp and Ethier similar production this season, they have similar numbers for their careers..
Kemp- .309 AVG/ .343 OBP/ .487 SLG/ .830 OPS
Ethier- .296 AVG/ .359 OBP/ .464 SLG/ .823 OPS

it would be nice if the Dodgers could trade one of Pierre or Ethier.

With Furcal out, we've needed to find Juan Pierre's bat in the lineup and Joe tends to ride his patience in veterans, which is why he's oddly having Andruw try to shake off his struggles by playing everyday. :-[
