I vetoed this trade....

Postby Bajecco » Wed May 14, 2008 6:44 pm

MY co-commish traded this

Co-Commish
·Garland, Jon SP ANA
·Teixeira, Mark 1B ATL
·Wells, Vernon CF TOR
·Young, Delmon RF MIN

to the last place team for this

Last Place Team
·Rivera, Mariano RP NYY
·Suzuki, Ichiro CF SEA
·Verlander, Justin SP DET

It is a 10 team 7x7 H to H league. Wells (out 6-8 weeks) obviously is waive wire quality and Young isn't much better. There are OF's on the waiver wire that have as good if not better stats than both these guys. Garland has poor numbers, but a winning record. The Last Place Team has Morneau at 1B and also has 4 OF's (Nady, Vlad, Drew & Hermidia) that are currently performing better than Delmon & Wells. The Last Place Team wouldn't even play the crippled Wells or Delmon if this trade went through.

My point is that the deal hurts Last Place Team and fails to improve him in any aspect.

Agreed?

Feedback would be appreciated.

You made a mistake. That trade is not vetoable. Tex was a second rounder who had a huge second half last year. Clearly the best player in the deal.

I actually haven't vetoed yet. I guess what you are saying is that Tex is worth Ichiro, Mariano & Verlander. I will reconsider, but I still think the last place team who is already 19 games out of the last playoff spot is just mailing it in. Tex isn't that great in a 10 team league. Just about every team in the league starts a 1B who could do what Tex did last year.

Is it a keeper? So what if he's mailing it in if he's improving his keeper lot?

Verlander hasn't been good this year, so one could arguably prefer Garland. So Teix for Mariano and Ichiro seems fine to me.

If he's just stupid, that's not a reason to veto. If you know these guys, then you should know whether there's any funny business or not.

Thanks for the responses. The 7 offense cat's are AVG, R, RBI, 2B + 3B, TB, SB, HR. No keepers.
Young & Wells a irrelevant because the team getting them already has guys better. The trade is basically Garland & Tex for Rivera, Ichiro & Verlander.

I know these guys a little bit. They are neighbors. The team trading Ichiro has not been doing his lineup consistently. I actually told the two teams I would let the deal go if they could explain why hoe the deal improved their teams. I have yet to get a response.

I'm sure this is overwith already, but I thought I'd add that in all situations, if the guy's trading can't justify the trade, then it should be blocked.
