All reports I've read say he will be ready for Opening Day. :-°
It's like I've died and gone to heaven......but then they realized that it wasn't my time, so they sent me to a brewery.

A big question that we'll just have to wait and see the answer to, is how will his elbow hold up? Coming off surgery like him, it's definitely a risk.

A risk, but a huge reward if healthy

Last year, when healthy, he put up great numbers in every category. I see his injury as a positive; it will make owners stay away from him and I will take him a round or 2 later than he should be taken...
but it's your call...

I think they cut back his innings some just to be careful. He went real deep into most of his starts last season. Even late when the elbow was bothering him (he was dominant despite that too ;-D ) As spring training progresses you should get a real good read on him.

If this were Mark Prior we were talking about I'd be concerned.

But Schmidt has already undergone several surgeries as a major leaguer and he just keeps getting better and better. The Giants won't rush him back and he's had a long time to rehab. I expect him to dominant from opening day on out.

Barring any setbacks, Schmidt will start opening day, according to Alou.
