Aaron Laffey getting sent down?

Postby Mr. Neow » Wed May 14, 2008 1:21 am

Anthony Castrovince, of Indians.MLB.com, reports Cleveland Indians SP Aaron Laffey could be sent down to Triple-A Buffalo as early as Friday, May 16, because the team will recall SP Jeremy Sowers for a spot start.

Any thoughts on how long or how sure it is he'll be sent down?

I think he's as good as any pitcher for the Indians and shouldn't get sent down with the starts he's been having. If I were you, I would trade one of your studs for Jay Bruce.

when would he be sent down? would he still get the start tomarrow against Oakland?
Laffey has pitched well, thinking about picking him up for tomarrows start ..which would be a waste if hes not going to even make the start.

hmm, isn´t there anybody else in the Indians roster to send down?

Sounds to me like Laffey could come back since Sowers is only coming up for a spot start. Just pray Sowers doesn´t throw a no hitter or something.

Yeah, but won't Westbrook be activated by the time Laffey's turn in the rotation comes up again? I think that is why Laffey is getting sent down so he can stay on a routine - and because Westbrook is coming off the DL.

Sowers is going to get the next fill in start for Westbrook. That's what they were saying yesterday. Westbrook was throwing before the last game, and appears he's close to being back. I don't THINK Laffey is going to get another start before Westbrook comes back.

Unless Westbrook has a problem. But everything sounds good with Westbrook here in Cleveland.

Just a note, the Indians sent Jason Tyner down to AAA today and called up Sowers to start tomorrow.

So, Laffey doesn't look to be headed down to make his next start at AAA. Probably keeping him up to see how Sowers does tomorrow, and will likely use him again to fill in for Westbrook next week.

If Sowers pitches well tho, he could get another start instead, since they have monday off.

So I don't see a need to drop him, if you don't need the roster spot ASAP. Sowers has pitched well, but Laffey has been pretty filthy.
