LF Jay Bruce went 2-for-4 for Triple-A Louisville Thursday to raise his season batting average to .325. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that GM Walt Jocketty is planning on going to Louisville next week to get a look at Bruce and SP Homer Bailey.

Bruce should be in the majors by June 1, we figure. Take the early flier now in those deep leagues where you cannot afford to miss out on the next big thing.

do people think this is credible? will he have a smooth transition to the majors? his k/bb is a little worrisome at 34/9, but hes hitting .328 with a .924 ops, 6 hr 7 sb

If you can spare the spot, Bruce should absolutely be owned in 12+ team leagues at this point. It's crazy to me that he's only owned in 33% of SportsLine leagues.

"May 12 Hal McCoy, of the Dayton Daily News, reports Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker said OF Jay Bruce will be recalled soon."

a) griffey is about to be traded (not likely)
b) patterson is about to be released (likely)
c) freel is about to be DFA'd/released/or traded (possible)

Good question, but I can't imagine them calling him up from AAA to play in a platoon. The whole rationale for keeping Bruce and Bailey in the minors at the beginning of the year (according to Baker) was to allow them regular playing time to develop. I see no reason that this development goal won't predominate once Bruce reaches the MLB level.

If there is a giant thread on his season projections that i missed just direct me there please.

Projections are just projections. IMO, they don't mean much. You aren't just going to be able to take those projected numbers and put them into your fantasy lineup.

Here's what we know:

He's generally considered the top prospect in all of baseball.

He's currently hitting .328 with a .924 OPS. He has 6 HRs, 27 RBIs, 22 Runs, and 7 SBs. His biggest flaw at this point is his strikeout rate -- he has 34 Ks to only 9 walks.

I'd say he's worth owning if you can pick him up.
