I am new to head to head leagues after having done nothing but roto over the last 2 years. I'm still trying to get a grip on it and would like some help from those of you who have more experience in H2H leagues.
As it stands today, I am up 7-5 in my matchup. I'm out in front in all the pitching categories but getting dominated in all the O cats in except stolen bases. I'll post the scoring below.
My team...........His Team
Avg: .216...........262
OPS: .608...........860
HR: 2................7
SB: 2.................0
Runs: 12.............19
RBI: 29...............12
W: 4..................0
ERA: 1.91............4.44
Sv: 3..................2
WHIP: 1.25..........1.77
K: 37..................14
K-BB: 1.95............1.08
He's got Lester, Dempster, Sheets and Chris Young still left to start while I have Lincecum, Dice-K and Jurrjens. I think I'm pretty safe to sweep the pitching cats. I have 3 closers to his 2 (one of which is BJ Ryan), so saves should not be a problem either...
Anyway, my question has to do with offense. Since I'm getting hammered in most of the batting categories, is it time to just punt those and try to lock up stolen bases? The scoring goes through Sunday, so that's three days including today to catch up. I am still trying to figure out what is actually achievable and whether I should try and catch him in any of the other cats at the expense of allowing him to catch up in the category that I'm leading in.
It basically boils down to whether I want to start guys who have the potential to steal bases (i.e. Bourn, Hart, Pence, etc.) over those who have no shot (Prince Fielder, Derrek Lee, etc.). Even if Prince and DLee wake up and hit three home runs each in the next three days, it may not help me very much b/c of the way his lineup is hitting (DWright, Youk, Francoeur, Hamilton, etc.)
