Gallardo out for season or not?

I've seen posts here saying he is out for the season with a torn ACL. I've also seen online that he is to be examined next week to determine his status for the future. Is there a definitive answer for him? I'm looking for a replacement in an 8 team roto but don't want to drop him until I know for sure.

From all I've heard here in Milwaukee it's that they are waiting for him to be evaluated to either have surgery or not. No other news outside of that. I want to know ASAP as well b/c he's just chillin' on the DL for me right now.

I would assume with a torn ACL even if he is not out for the year it will still be at least several months right? So are we looking best case scenario back in Aug/Sep?

Since he's a pitcher, September would be generous. A hitter weould e back in action by the ASB.

I would think so. Yeah it doesn't take as long to come back from an injury like this as it used to but it will still be an extended amount of time.

Every indication seems to be pointing to a season ending injury. He has a complete tear of his ACL, and from what I understand the Brewers are just waiting for the swelling to go down before making a final decision on surgery. Short story: don't count on Gallardo until '09. Find a replacement. Can anyone think of a single player, pitcher or hitter, who has come back from a complete ACL tear in the same season? I'm no doctor, but I've seen no real evidence that its likely.

Yovani Gallardo confirmed Friday that he'll undergo season-ending knee surgery.

Gallardo tore his ACL and is expected to go under the knife next week. He should be fully healthy in time for spring training.
