In that case, I'd probably wait until there are no other tier 1 players left, then consider taking a catcher. The original article says always take the highest tier available. I only sometimes follow that advice. If there's only one 2nd tier 2B available but 3 1st tier C, I'll probably take the 2B, but it depends.

Have GOOD projection stat's on players, and then if you have to choose between the best available player (OF or a SS) you will be ready. If their numbers are close go with the position of scarcity.

I agree 100%. I'm all about cheat sheets... having a solid top200 list and a top15 or so at each position.

And when it comes to bats vs arms, I usually end up with bats my first couple rounds, and stud arms somewhere in rounds 3,4, or 5. All depends on the flow of the draft....

I try to draft a balanced team, but I try to be very flexible when need be. I usually favor hitting slightly over pitrching. I also usually wait to draft a catcher. I figure I can nab a guy like Lecroy or Phillips in rounds 15 and on.
