Any of these worth stashin on the DL?

Postby x69camaross69x » Thu May 08, 2008 1:10 am

We have an open DL spot in my league, and my team is healthy (knock on kerry wood), so I think it makes sense to try to grab someone to stash on the DL. Here are some notable names, can you guys help with some info as far as injury timeframes, and who will be best when they do come back? Thanks a bunch

Dmitri Young
Eric Chavez
Hank Blalock
Rocco Baldelli
Travis Buck
Jack Wilson
Maicer Izturis
Nomar Garciaparra

pitchers:
C. Cordero
P. Hughes
Borowski
Willis
Carpenter (whens he due back?)

I'd stash Borowski, depending on your RP situation. It actually appears he's going to get the closing gig back as soon as he's healthy...

I would second the Borowski thought. He is coming back into the closer role and hopefully, they figured out his velocity loss was due to his injury. Of course, this depends on the need of your lineup. For a positional player, I would go with Blalock. He hits in a run producing spot in that Texas lineup, so he will get plenty of opportunities to get rbi's when he comes back.

Stay away from Carpenter this season. He is coming back from a major surgery and pitchers rarely do well coming off surgery.

I, personally, would stay away from Borowski unless you are desperate for saves...he hasn't had a WHIP under 1.39 since '05, and every save is an adventure for him.

I would pick up Hughes (especially if your league is a keeper league) or Blalock (who has the potential to hit for power if he's healthy)

Blalock is probably going to be out until June and Hughes won't be back until after the Allstar break...

hughes isnt really a DL-stash since he'll probably see the NA-tag in the minors before he goes back to the big leagues.
