Official Ryan Spilborghs is better then Brad Hawpe Thread

Postby acsguitar » Thu May 08, 2008 12:58 am

Spilborghs 17-51, 1 HR 11 RBI's 2 SB 4 BB's 5!! K's

Brad Hawpe 28-108 3 HR 14 RBI's 0 SB 22 BB's 25!! K's

Now I know Hawpe put up great numbers last year and I'm sure I'm not looking deep enough into it. But from these stats and from the watching the Rox's all the time. Spilborghs should be starting every day on the Rockies somewhere.

Considering their need for pitching Hawpe could be a nice shiny lure to land the rockies a moderately decent pitcher.

Any of you Uber stat junkies wanna prove me right or wrong please do. I'm interested to see if Spilborghs projects to be a better Hitter or at least a hitter who can replace Hawpe if Hawpe can bring us a pitcher.

Spilborghs was too old for every level, and since his AAA was Colorado Springs, he is too hard for me.

Hawpe is good. I don't know why you don't like him.
.291/.387/.539 is nothing to sneeze at.

Just taking a quick look, it's obviously Spilborghs lacks one thing that Hawpe doesn't and thats power. For a corner OF it's average to below average. Also not sure why you care abou the K's from a power hitter, the walks more than make up for it w/ an ISO OBP of .140. Not to mention 51 AB's is an extremely small sample size to go on by saying someone is better.

Spillborghs is a VERY good 4th outfielder. Hawpe has a cannon for an arm, draws a lot of walks, and will hit around 20 hr. That's not a guy you want to completely replace with a 4th of type. However, he COULD use a platoon partner.

Hawpe kills RHP he just can't hit LHP. Platoon him and be happy.

Correct.

Brad Hawpe's stats on May 8th last year: .274, 1 HR, 17 RBIs, 13 Runs.
Brad Hawpe's stats at the end of the year: .291, 29 HR, 116 RBIs, 80 Runs.

This entire thread is garbage.

Thanks for the input arse

Notice above where I ask for information on weather statistically he could replace Hawpe. Anyway Hawpe as a "Power Hitter" is a 6 hole hitter. So thats one reason I could see Spilly take a nice spot there.

I'm not hating on Hawpe but I think he could return some nice pitching and Spilly could take over for him in right field with a mix of Pods/Willy.

The turning point for Hawpe last year was the day after I traded him away in my main Dynasty league. Maybe I could try to get him back right now and the voodoo will be reversed, allowing him to mash once again? I'll see what I can do.

Nice!

I do like Hawpe but I think Spilborghs/Pods/Ian Stewart could take his spot over and then we might actually get a decent 3rd or 4th starter.
