Almost speechless about the whole thing, but rather than write a book about it all, I'll simply give the parents of this kid a great big ----> :-t

but it sure was humorous!

Maybe for some, but personally I find the whole thing pathetic on many different levels.
Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
Sick of those who feel self-entitled.
Sick of those who are hypocrites.
Yes doctor, an army is forming.
Yes doctor, there will be a war.
Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

Guess I don't see the humor.

7 year old gets mad at his mother and steals the car.

Had a 7 year old friend with him that he could have killed, along with himself and other people.

Damaged other people's vehicles (4 cars and 2 mailboxes).

Damaged public property that our taxes pay for (the wall he hit).

Grandma thinks "whipping his behind" would lead authorities to take the kid away.

Thinks no video games for the weekend is an acceptable punishment.

The kid thinks it's fun to do bad things.

And by far he isn't the only kid out there who has a severe lack of parenting problem.

So no, I don't see a single funny thing about any of it.

Didn't kids used to have to repair property they may have damaged?

Video games gone for the weekend? They'd be gone out of my house.

But my kid could drive straight anyway.

Yes, that's what happened "back in the day". (Sooo much pocket money lost to broken windows :-C )

What ever happened to that? Have we got so soft that that does not apply?

Unpopular statement coming up..........................

Maybe they shouldn't have got rid of the strap at school? :-?

You do realize that every child that was ever spanked has become a violent sociopath when they reached adulthood? ;-7

Seriously, though, I don't want anyone else spanking my kid.

My generation missed it (NZ stopped strapping in 1986, and I don't know what year in Australia, earlier I think), and to me my generation seems so much more pathetic, uneducated and criminal then the ones before it. I don't know if the two things are linked, just an observation.

Ontario has the Parental Responsibility Act - you can sue the parents for damage to property done by a child in their custody. The only defences are that somebody else has custody or to prove to the court that you have done everything possible to adequate supervise the child. They should have called it the Madison Jones Act.
