Homer Bailey to be Called Up Within Next 2 Weeks?

Not sure I would get too excited. It's against the Phillies and Hamels is the opposing pitcher. Plus, Bailey's May was bad. He had a bad outing today too. The Reds are calling him up because they really don't have another 5th pitcher right now.

I gritted my teeth and started Bailey today, figured my ERA and WHIP are bad enough that I have to start taking some chances (thank you Cain and Snell!)

Worked out okay, woulda liked more than 1 lousy K but it happens..

Bailey would have been fine if the defense had just backed him. Plus, whoever's idea it is that swinging at the first pitch is smart needs to be shot.

One thing to keep in mind going forward with Bailey. The Cowboy noticed that Bailey was relying heavily on his fastball. One of the biggest issues with Baily has been that he has not been able to develop his other pitches. At least once (I believe it was for the third strike on that 1 K), he threw a very good curve ball, so it could just be a confidence issue. I think I would continue to spot start him for the time being.

I did the same thing and started him, compared to the other options that I have for SP's I didn't think it was too much of a gamble. I was impressed with what I got. I was hoping that Dusty wouldn't let him pitch the 7th and was kinda frustrated that he went out for that inning. It just drives me crazy sometimes how Dusty handles his pitchers. Did he really expect that he was going to make it 7 innings when he called him up to pitch??

Indeed, you're right. Bailey has usually been a flamethrower, but isn't quite as well-rounded as say, Johnny Cueto is. He's had issues in spotting his command before, which isn't really strange. Bailey is still very talented, but I don't see him panning out within the next 2 years either.
