What the hell is this guy on? He is on fire but I was afraid to start him vs the Yankees regretting it now. His next 2 starts look to be against weaker teams (not buying As, cannot hit 250 as a team and score runs)

Now I'm not trying to say they're the same guy. But who was Dan Haren before last years run pre-ASB? A guy with alot of potential who hadn't quite capitalized on it yet? I'm saying that if you got yourself some Cliff Lee off of waivers, you got yourself a poor mans Haren.

Only real difference between the two here is Lee's WHIP in 2006. But Lee also put up a 14-8 season in 2004, with 161K in 179IP...

Dan Haren
2005 - 14-12, 217IP, 163K, 3.73ERA, 1.22 WHIP
2006 - 14-13, 223IP, 176K, 4.12ERA, 1.21 WHIP

Cliff Lee
2005 - 18-5, 202IP, 143K, 3.79ERA, 1.22 WHIP
2006 - 14-11, 200IP, 129K, 4.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP

He was hurt last year. And he was pretty much terrible because of it. He's no bum. Say what you will about BABIP and all of that, but that can be misleading as well when they're beating balls into the dirt, breaking bats, and hitting it off the ends of bats. Only one legit hit he gave up tonight. Most were bloops, bad flip from Casey Blake let Abreu beat out an infield hit...

So no, he's not going to finish the season with a sub 1 ERA and WHIP. And he's not going to strikeout 20 in 9 innings. But he's going to get it done, and as long as he's healthy, he's going to be winning games.

I've been a fan of this Indians team for awhile and I've always liked this guy. When he's healthy, he's been consistent and would make a great #3 starter on any team. If only someone other than Martinez could remember how to hit...

Going into the season, I thought that the Indians were going to have a huge year and win the division with 95+ wins and the Tigers were going to run away with the wild card. Based on what we've seen thus far, both teams look pretty flawed and neither is a shoo-in for a postseason berth.
