I remember there was a lot of talk about him, but I don't see any threads here even though he is starting tomorrow. Is this just a one time start for him? Any Minnesota fans know what the organization thinks of this kid, and if he is worth putting on a fantasy roster?

Actually, he was the Twins' #1 pitching prospect coming into this year. He's got good control and has some K potential. He's just getting off the DL and he'll be taking Baker's spot in the rotation, and will remain there if he can prove himself. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

I'm in a 16 team league, and having trouble finding pitchers. I definitely won't play him tomorrow. Lets see how he does. But would you drop Wellemeyer for him?
Kevin Slowey is often compared to retired Twins' pitcher Brad Radke. Not known for being a super flashy stud, but rather for his command, control, and abilty to help his team compete. Last year with the Twins he won 4, lost 1 in 11 games, pretty decent K's (44 in 66.2 IP), a 4.72 ERA and a respectable 1.40 whip.
Will he pan out? Time will tell. The Twins' bats are well known for going to sleep for periods of time, but my personal opinion being a Twins fan from MN is that he'll only be getting better with more experience. He's approximately 23 years old, and the Twins organization is typically good in helping their young arms bloom to their potential.
p.s. I wouldn't use the word "bum" to describe Slowey by any means, myself.
