Anyone feel that Vlad may be hiding an injury? What else could be the explanation for his extremely slow start?

I am leaning towards the age thing.

Taking into consideration that he is from the Dominican Rupublic, you can most likely add 3 or 4 years to his age.

I understand that this often happens - and it is quite possible that Vlad is older than the age listed. However, his listed age has him at 32, meaning that when he started playing in the minors for the Expos in 1993 he was 17. I doubt they couldn't tell that he was actually 13...

That being said, he hit .255 in Sept. 2001 and still hit .307 for the season, .224 and .208 in May and July of 2005 and hit .317 over the whole season, and .243 in June of 2006 and hit .329 for the year. Give him another month or two before he's labeled over the hill...

I think you have it backwards, my friend :-S

If it lists him at 17 when he played in Montreal's farm system, chances are he was really 19 or 20! Just like Tejada, which was 19 when he played for Oakland farm team, really was 22!

Hmmm, both born in 1976 and from the same part of the Dominican! What are the chances? :-?

::puts on the dunce cap::

Clearly, I'm a moron and I'm not afraid to admit it.

However, though my reasoning may be bass-ackwards, Vlad was 2-4 with a double and a triple tonight...
