Many teams look better on paper than when they finally take the field and play ball. But if your draft was perfect, you should be on top at season's end.
My team is in a slump. Last to first, stayed there for a week, back to 11th. Now, if anyone of my hitters were even hitting close to what they finished last season at, I should be fine.
Actually I did have the perfect draft so far. I've had the best start to a season I've ever had (or seen). C Soto 1 Teixeira 2 Upton 3 Wright SS Furcal OF Markakis OF Hart OF Young UT ARam B Victorino B Sheffield B K Johnson
SP Carmona SP Vazquez RP Soria RP Wilson P Acosta P Volquez P Greinke B McGowan B E Santana DL Soriano
110 points. Top that!
2008: 37th ranked Yahoo PLUS Rotisserie Public team (24 weeks in top 45, 9 weeks as #1) 2006: 18th ranked Yahoo PLUS Rotisserie Public team (17 weeks in top 35)
I had a great draft and I'm in first in my h2h league, but it's h2h so the only thing that matters is making the playoffs and having your team playing well. It's a 10 team league with my friends.
C. Soto 1b. Cabrera 2b. Kinsler SS. Jeter 3B. Wright IF. Adrian Gonzalez OF. Berkman OF. Lee OF. Markakis OF. Hart UT. Votto UT. Hamilton bn. Bourh bn. K Johnson
SP. Zambrano SP. Harang RP. Nathan RP. Capps P. Ryan P. Fuentes P. Raunch Bn. Vazquez Bn. Lincecum Bn. Buchholz bn. Scherzer Bn. Billingsley
The back end of my rotation is a little shaky, but they have a lot of potential.
I thought I had a good auction draft in one league, but I started out in second to last for the first several weeks. Within the past weeks I've shot up to second place overall (Roto). Don't judge by the first month....
It is frustrating when you have a good draft...come up with the guys you wanted to, no big disappointments...look at the team you've assembled, and believe it's as good or better than anyone else's in the league...and lots of guys just aren't performing. And another day goes by, and you're falling a little further behind. And you're a good fanball manager, you're not going to do anything drastic. You know the worse thing you can do is bail out on some of these guys you believed in when their value is down. Gotta be patient, gotta believe. And another day goes by, and you're a little further behind. And you're a good fanball manager, and you know that time comes when patience turns to stupidity. But we're not there yet, don't panic, hang on tight; your boys will come around. And you roll your ace out there again and damned if he doesn't get hammered once more and jeesh are any of these guys ever going to hit and come on it's still early but man throw me a bone here and another day goes by and you're a little further behind....
Thanksfully never happened to me before. If I get most of the guys I'm targeting I'll have a top 3 team. You might want to re-evaluate the guys you selected if you are still struggling.
This is old news my friend.Every year i start my homework in January ,researching every player using about 5 different magazines plus the internet. After the draft i feel well pleased with my pics.I have to laugh at the joker who picks up a cheat sheet on his way over to the draft,Fuka who? That's "Fukadome".And it's that joker who leads the league. And for me....still near the bottom.Just check out yahoos league leading teams. Are you kidding me?My team in a 10 man league. C Pudge Sp Hamels, Kasmir,Maine,C Bucholz, Martinez 1 Howard Rp Wagner,Jones,Soriano,Neshek 2 Kinsler 3b Braun ss Tulo of C.Lee, Granderson,Fukadome,Matsui, utl Ortiz ,Pierre,J.Guillen We all know that "LUCK" plays a major factor in fantasy sports. The key to winning is how you adjust through the season.Trades,fa pickups and lineup adjustment. The perfect draft?Never going to happen.
