The "Woe Is Me" Thread

Postby Merlin401 » Sat May 03, 2008 12:23 pm

I'm sure there are a lot of fantasy owners out there ruined by the latest rash of injuries. Here's a thread to whine and commiserate together. I'll give you my sob story. Pat me on the back if you feel bad or share your own disaster if you have one.

Big 14 team league so talent is spread pretty thin as it is. I've lost:

* #1 draft choice Jimmy Rollins
* #3 draft choice Curtis Granderson for 3 weeks earlier
* #5 draft choice Jorge Posada (leaving me with basically no catcher)
* One of my two best pitchers in Gallardo
* My first drafted closer, Chad Cordero

Thats just my top-end talent... I've had other injuries (like Wandy Rodriquez and such, but at least those are somewhat replaceable)... But with so many top guys from my team going down, I feel like my team is decimated :(

How about you...

I traded Dice K and Ryan Theriot for Tulowitzki and Rich Hill the day tulowitzki strained his quad.

I traded McLouth for Yovani Gallardo two days before his ACL tear...

Ouch...

Feel your pain though, as I also traded for Tulo though I grabbed him about two weeks before he tore the tendon. Gave up Corey Hart to get him...

Also just lost Smoltz and Gallardo...

Had Granderson on the DL earlier, but with the way he's playing now, the wait was worth it.

One team of mine was looking great on paper. Now I am barely staying out of the cellar.

-I traded for Rollins a day before he went on the DL.
-Made another trade and acquired Rafael Soriano about a day before he went on the DL as well. Though it is unlikely he will be useful when he comes back.
- I traded Smoltz away in the Rollins trade.
-Dropped Cordero as he will never close again this year.

I also had Victorino on the DL, and Harden is still on the DL.

Yeah, it's not looking too great in this league.

Lost Gallardo, #1 starter.

Tulo is my SS.

Posada is my catcher.

R. Soriano is one of my closers.

Getting ugly here.

My DL list is a nice one, too:

Posada
ARod
Kendrick
Gallardo
Hughes

Of course, I think the Hughes DL actually helps me at this point... !+)

I traded Prince for Cole Hamels and Gallardo. I'm not the winner anymore in that trade.

I drafted:
Gallardo (done for season)
Hill (AAA, probably not coming back any time soon)
Myers (barely throwing harder then Jamie Moyer)
Kennedy (pitching like he belongs in single-A, dumped him a long time ago)
Bedard (at least he appears back on track now)
Izzy (this years Borowski)

I did snag Volquez in early April and was able to snag Buchholz for Gallardo. At least Wainwright is ok for now.

We can all commiserate with a virtual sudsy beer..

At one time or another these guys have been on my DL this season.

Gallardo
Beckett
Slowey
Kendrick
R. Soriano

I picked up Moylan to try to mitigate things with Soriano and he's gone.

Three guys have threatened to join that DL space of mine, but ended up not having to go on it..

Towles (good thing I have Soto)
Hafner (Better thing I have Votto)
Bourn (Starting to wonder if I should have traded HIM instead of C. Gomez for saves)
