Rich Hill was pulled after walking four and allowing one run in the first inning Friday against the Cardinals.
Well, the Cubs took a pitcher with control problems and didn't use him for nine days. It should have come as no surprises that things went from bad to worse. Manager Lou Piniella showed no patience at all with Hill today, pulling him after he walked in a run when he bounced a 3-2 pitch with two outs in the first. They'll certainly have to send him down after this one. Either Jon Lieber or Sean Marshall can take the open rotation spot until Hill finds the strike zone.
Thank you Lou Piniella for taking a young pitcher with some control issues and using him so erratically that you've made it far worse. Lou and Dusty Baker must have gone to the same school for how to handle young pitchers or is this part of the job requirements to become a Cubs manager?
