I never played seriously with the other controllers but the wheel works very well. I use the manual drift and starting to get very good at it. :-D

Does anyone race online via the WFC? If so, what point total are you at? I don't play nearly as much as I use to, but I'm typically in the 8000 range playing with Luigi, riding the classic dragster kart. I get a lot of satisfaction knowing that I can still be the majority of people on bikes a good amount of the time. The high 9000 players are tough to beat unless you have another really high quality player or a group of solid guys.

Im at about 6500 playing online. I always use yoshi with the sugarscoot bike. At a certain skill level, it becomes a game of luck. Whoever gets the best items wins. Still a great game though.
