The secret to win a league is in round 6-14, and then take a few late sleepers than pan out.

Definitely do not trade up. The first pick is way overrated. I prefer to be in the middle of the pack. As mentioned earlier, the key picks don’t come in the first round but come in rounds 3-6. Many people who have a need to have the top pick use it to pick their favorite superstar.
In most active leagues I’ve been in, the owner in the middle of the pack usually wins. There are exceptions, but not a whole lot. There is no silver bullet pick that will win your league for you.
