I disagree. Most people had been expecting that he would start out in middle relief and there was even talk of him possibly getting the closer's job. Plenty of minor league starters are brought up to the majors and pitch as relievers before becoming starters again, such as Yovani and Joba. If Yahoo had designated them as starters then everybody would have been complaining that they were labeled wrong.

And if the reason Scherzer got RP status was because he was brought up to throw in relief that's not consistent. He was a starter all the time in the minors and when players are going to change position Yahoo waits until they get the games needed (like Braun in OF).
Having spent way too much time lately looking at the relevant code, I can assure you that at no point does the eligibility determination take into account at all what you did in the minor leagues.
Scherzer is a relief pitcher because it was publicly stated that he was being brought up to be a relief pitcher, and in fact when he was brought up, he was used in relief.
You guys made the right call here - as you usually do.
Thanks again for providing a great fantasy service for free. You guys rule.
