May 2 Assistant GM Gord Ash said that Gallardo has a complete tear of his ACL and will have surgery within the next week. He said that the Brewers don't expect Gallardo to return this season, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Recommendation: Gallardo should be fine for the start of next season, but his 2008 is effectively over. The Brewers will replace him with Dave Bush in the rotation.

Y! Sports.

Done for season.

News: The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Yovani Gallardo did not escape serious injury Thursday, as the team originally thought, after a collision at first base against the Cubs. An examination in Milwaukee Friday morning revealed that he had a torn ACL in his right knee after running into Reed Johnson near first base in the fifth inning. He was immediately placed on the 15-day disabled list and no decision on surgery will be made until the swelling subsides. He's likely going to miss the rest of the season though. Dave Bush is expected to get called up to take his spot in the rotation.
