Well, on the bright side, by all accounts when you tear a knee ligament or anything like that you know the second you did it. Still, it sounds like we're going to be hearing about an MRI tomorrow morning. *fingers crossed*

His velocity wasn't down at all, according to the mlb.com gameday pitchfx data. He was 88-92 with the fastball all game, including the last 2 batters of the 5th and the entire 6th. The last pitch he threw was a 90 mph fastball. I'm guessing he just got a bit flustered after what had happened to him sunk in after the 5th inning was over. He got through 2 quick batters right after the injury, and then had problems the next inning.

And lets be honest with ourselves, after a collision like that how many of us could still be pitching effectively, assuming we could pitch in the first place?

Sounds like some good news:

Gallardo allowed three runs in six innings, but didn't get the decision in Thursday's win over the Cubs.

Fantasy Spin: Gallardo twisted his right knee in the fifth inning, but was able to stay in the game. He allowed two of his runs in the sixth inning so the knee may have affected him a bit. Pitching Coach Mike Maddux said after the game that his knee was just sore and that he expected him to make his next start.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Yovani Gallardo has a torn ACL.

An examination of Gallardo in Milwaukee on Friday morning revealed the injury, which Gallardo suffered in a collision with Reed Johnson on Thursday. The team will wait until swelling subsides to determine if he needs surgery, but he'll likely miss the rest of the season. Dave Bush will be recalled and replace him in the rotation.

I actually pitched two offers for Hughes and Gallardo about a month ago, both got turned down.

Oh and what a bonehead move to let him stay in the game. Who knows maybe it actually made it worse.
