In my league, we need 2 starters at each infield position and we count OBP. Is the second round too early for Renteria. Hoping to get Soriano with my first pick.

nope, ideally i'd like to do the same scenario. it's a matter of if i can get soriano. i think renteria is worth a 2nd rounder. he gives you steals and average with ok power. i like him this year.

Renteria might be OK in the second round (though he may drop to the third), though it would depend on what other SS have been taken.

I think you should draft the best player available regardless of position... delgato or thome should still be there...

Since whe is Thome more valuable than Renteria in a roto league, even if you factor out position scarcity?

I'd definately consider Renteria late in the 2nd round, but you said you got Soriano first, so you must have an early 3rd round pick. Maybe you can wait it out and get Renteria in the 3rd and get a big masher or a top SP with your 2nd pick.

I wouldn't think Soriano would be as valuable in a league that counts OBP.

It's a seven category league which counts the traditional 5 categories plus OBP and Total Bases. Soriano is a monster in TB so he becomes, in essensce, a 6 category player. As is Helton, Pujols, Manny, and all the other guys that don't steal bases. Vlad, Arod, and Beltran are only true 7 category guys.
