Anyone know what the Phillies plan to do with him? I thought he was supposed to be activated today but he's not in the starting lineup. Is he still assured of a starting spot?

pinch run him for burrell in the 7th inning.

it's worse case scenerio for shane this year. he was ice cold to start, then got hurt, then lost his job to werth. keep him on your bench until he starts vs RHP

I wouldn't be so quick to say he lost his job to Werth. maybe his spot in CF, but I think Jenkins will most likely be the one spending plenty of time on the bench. Jenkins went into tonights game with a BA of .426 and an OPS of 1.057 vs Maddux in 54 ABs. I think that's why Victorino wasn't in RF tonight and Jenkins was.

Everything I read so far agree's with the above poster. Werth might stay in CF with Victorino sliding over to RF with Jenkins being the main guy losing PT.

Even if he does lose playing time to Werth, Werth will come back to earth soon. Victorino will get his spot in CF back.

don't worry guys, Charlie Manuel cleared it up for us:

"Tonight, [Werth] is our centerfielder," Manuel said. "Victorino is still going to play centerfield and he's still kind of our centerfielder. At the same time, Werth's our centerfielder tonight, if that makes sense. For me to say no, Victorino is not going to play centerfield for us anymore, I'm not going to say that, because that's not true."

So basically Charlie is riding the hot hand unitl "something" happens. Looks very similar to the Dodger OF situation, at least in the short term. I have not activated Victorino from the DL yet and will let him sit there until something sorts itself out.

If Jenkins can just get lost, I wouldn't mind Victorino playing RF, then he wouldn't have to make all those running and diving catches and would have to cover less ground.

It sucks being a Shane owner right now, but if he can just be in the lineup while Rollins is out and just excel in the lead-off role....
