So Um does he make it. Probably not.
Jose Canseco plans to try out for the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2 1/2 years after his last appearance in the major leagues.
The six-time All-Star will attend the Los Angeles Dodgers' open tryout on March 1.
``Canseco's people called us,'' Matt Slater, the Dodgers' director of professional scouting, said Tuesday. ``He's welcome to come.''
Canseco last played in the majors in 2001, when he hit .258 with 16 homers for the Chicago White Sox.
He and Mark McGwire teamed in Oakland as the ``Bash Brothers,'' leading the team to three straight World Series appearances from 1988-90, including the 1989 title. Canseco won the 1988 AL MVP award and has 462 homers, 26th on the career list.
Canseco admitted in 2002 that he used steroids during his career. He served jail time for violating terms of his probation for a 2001 fight at a Miami Beach, Fla., nightclub. His rap sheet includes domestic violence and aggravated battery charges.

He also won't be on 'roids since he admitted to the world that he used them when he played.

I doubt he comes back to the NL - he'd have to play the field. I'm more of a major league prospect in the Outfield than Canseco is.

oh man, you know this has to be killing the guys that sell stat projections.
It's hard enough to predict HR's as it is, now they have to try and figure out how many could bounce of Jose's head before they go into the stands.
At least there's some good news. Word has it, Jose's taken up yoga and has lost a lot of weight. Entering spring training, it's been reported (by Jose) that Jose Canseco appears to possibly, maybe be in the best shape of his life (except for right before he got blackballed)

Well agree that it sounds funny for Canseco to come back. Especially after what he's said about the league. And I don't think the best place for him would be in the NL. But the last time Canseco put his mind to it and had the world saying 'why?' and 'Are you kidding me?' he belted 47 homers for the Jays. I'm not saying he could do that again but I am saying when this dude wants to play and pay attention he can really hit.
