Veto or Bad Trade

Pujols for Paplebon

Team getting Papelbon
Putz
Wood
Accardo
Lidge
Soriano
Borowski

Team Getting Pujols
Nathan
Rivera

1B
Hafner
Guillen
Swisher
Giambi

Is team 1 just stupid? This is personally just frustrating as a comissioner but I don't think its Vetoable- I should just lash out at Team 1. Thoughts on this trade that was just accepted?

I'd veto that in a heartbeat. Ignoring the substantial imbalance between the 2 players, and assuming normal league settings, the trade doesn't even make sense for either team.

True that. Veto it is... The thing is in my league I had a trade vetoed and I posted my arguement why it was a fair trade and then people allowed it to go through. So it makes me look bad to veto this, despite its unfairness--atleast to the other owners

Have the league vote on it. If they deem it appropriate, go with their decision. What was the earlier trade that you argued for? And were you involved? If so, you're in a precarious position.

I was involved in the first deal. BUT I did not vote to veto this trade because of that- and it was still vetoed-

I traded Liriano (Drafted in the 12th round) FOR Billy Wagner (8th round)

I was strong in SP, Liriano had just been called up and had not yet pitched his first game. The team that I dealt with was strong with closers- Wagner, Valverde, CJ Wilson, Kevin Gregg, and Brandon Lyon

So the way Im handling this as commish is having each manager post their thoughts on the deal- and I will go from there. Most likely The team dealing Paplebon will have to add a player to even out this trade...

Handled appropriately?

I don't know what if the first team was going with the all reliever option.....punting wins and K's......is his offense still good without Pujols.....does he think Pujols won't be able to make it the whole 162? I'd have to be in the league and know the dynamics before I would think about vetoing. Adding Paplebon to a reliever only core where he wants to run away with saves, era and whip is as good a guy as you can get in those circumstances. With that said, I'd have to be in the league to know for sure.

What's going on with this league? Is it all people you know and who take it seriously?
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

Actually that first trade was basically fine and shouldn't have been vetoed. I think you escaped that situation unscathed and could unapologetically object to the second. It's on a whole different level of lopsidedness.

Way to be a horse's butt of a commissioner. The trade was fine. Paps is an elite closer who will have over 100Ks this season and over 40 saves. Pujols is a great hitter but carries tons of injury risk.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this trade.

Last year I traded Soriano for Rivera when all my closers went to hell. Guess it was a bad trade...oh wait, I won that league.

Can't believe people would actually veto this trade.
