16 Team League Learning Curve

Postby JoeSoCal » Wed Feb 25, 2004 3:20 am

I am doing a 16 team mixed league this year (standard 5x5 with 2 catchers). I have only done 12 team leagues in the past.

What should I take into account as I adjust for the increase in teams? Any hints, tips or strategies?

By the way...i draft at the end of round 1. :SUCKS:

Well, for one thing, you shouldn't count on making as many useful free agent pickups; that might be a reason to go with starting pitching a bit earlier than you otherwise might.

I'm in a 16-team roto keeper league and there's a Joe in our league.....

He finished last in 2003 and dealt me Blalock for Foppert & Vazquez for Harden in the process. Now he won't deal with me :-]

Make sure you draft your pitching a little higher than you normally would. I am in a 16 team keeper and a lot of pitchers went in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

I disagree there won't be much on the wire in a 16-team league....

Last year, there were a few nice pickups in our league....

C-- LeCroy
1B--David Ortiz
2B-- Marcus Giles
SS--Angel Berroa
3B--Bill Mueller
OF--Jose Guillen
OF--Milton Bradley
OF--Melvin Mora
Util--Michael Young

SP--Loaiza
SP--Ponson
SP--Webb
SP--Meche
SP--Redman
MR--Donnelly (holds is our 6th category)
MR--Hasagawa
CL--Looper
CL--Worrell

That's leaving out decent guys like: Podsednik, Gerut, Loretta, Ensberg, R.Soriano, Farnsworth, Biddle, Mota, Penny, Pavano, M.Batista, K.Escobar.
