Loduca adds 30 lbs and may play LF

Postby pmoston » Wed Feb 25, 2004 2:36 am

From Rotoworld:

Paul Lo Duca showed up to camp 30 pounds heavier than he was at the end of last year.
Lo Duca apparently intends to hit for more power this year. The extra weight could make it more difficult for him to play left field, if that's something the Dodgers have in mind. However, it might make him more of a middle-of-the-order threat.

More Power and possibly LF, 1B, C makes LoDuca look pretty good to me.

At worst I see

500 abs, 275 avg, 65 r, 15 hr, 65 rbi

not bad from one of the weakest positions.

What do you guys thik?

I think that, from the looks of Giambi this spring, he went to Giambi's house over the winter and left with a duffle bag full of goodies. :-D

pmoston, you wont find a lot of love for Loduca from me. The guy is still living off his 2001 career yr. He is way overrated by most people. Do a search for LoDuca and pull up some old posts about him. The guy is a joke, and getting fatter doesnt impress me.

I can see how gaining weight might make one think they have gained power, but look at his 2nd half split from last yr. Its tough to be very useful when you are hitting around .220.

gaining weight doesnt mean getting fatter, so think about what you say before you open your mouth.

if that 30 lbs is muscle, then lo duca could very well add onto his homer totals from the past couple years. remember last year, when nobody seemed to care about javy lopez getting in shape? now i dont quite expect lo duca to hit 40+ homers, but i do feel an improvement in his production coming. thanks for the info pmoston.
theyre coming.....

I tell you one thing, i dont think a guy that small can get 30 pounds of pure muscle. He went on the Ragin Bull diet fo sure.
