I would think if your league counts holds bite on Max. If not, he still may be worth a bite. Don't just assume a guy is definatley gonna get called up. Sometimes funny things happen in baseball.....and life

Yep. My league counts holds so I picked him up as soon as I could. Very excited about Max.
I think many people are making a rash decision about this.
If you read Arizona's GM's quotes you would know that he said that Scherzer was "going to be a starter" but that, RIGHT NOW, they needed "bullpen help."
You know as well as I do that between Johnson, Owings, and Davis, someone is going to get hurt this season..............INSERT MAD MAX..........
Depends on how deep your league is and how active the ww is. If you have guys dropping players left and right b/c they have no patience, I would get Scherzer. But if all is calm in your league wait for Kershaw, he will be better.
If you pick up Scherzer soon, you can make a good trade asset of him!

Yeah, don't just assume Kershaw's going to be called up. Injuries happen, he could struggle, etc. Scherzer IS being called up. In a redraft he should be able to help you even as a MR guy in leagues with any depth so he's worth it. Assume his floor to be that of a solid MR. In a dynasty league or any keeper where you'd consider keeping Scherzer or Kershaw you almost have to grab Scherzer now unless you're playing for THIS year and don't have the roster space. Even if he gets sent back down in a lot of dynasties you'd still have him locked up under your control.
So what if this guy Kershaw keeps winning in the minors and keeps K'ing guys like he is?...He will get called up for sure, and by then he will have say...60 IP and 90 Ks....everyone will be complaining that they waisted their #1 waiver on a RP (Scherzer).

a reliever that pitched 4.1 innings and struck out 7 with no hits or walks in his MLB Debut. yeah, don't waste your waiver on Scherzer.
