Exactly. There aren't any leagues where you win just by showing up.
I don't think any pitching staff is EVER a lock.

I just made a trade to give me Peavy that isn't horrible by any means, but I'm dominating offense already and my starters are now super stacked. The deal may yet be canceled by people protesting (Yahoo! Plus League), not cause it's so unfair but because I'm ahead of 2nd place by 30 points already and getting one of the best SP's in a deal that doesn't hurt my offense at all (it was J. Vazquez/C.B. Young/Bourne for Peavy).

That's an awful reason to veto a trade. Why not just let everyone run your team by committee at that point? :-P

I think the only thing this thread proves is that there are a couple of guys who are ready to make the move up to better competition next year! I'll have to keep you guys in mind for the Cafeholics Challenge league next year....sadly in this league I'm starting off the slowest of my 4 team :-/ Time to give my boys a pep talk!

Personally, I think April's way too early to declare a winner. Not only has the fat lady not started singing.....she's not even in the building yet.

But assuming that every other manager in your league is already willing to concede the league championship, there is an easy fix. They could simply declare you the winner, and give you the payout. Then you could make some lopsided trades or drop some players that would benefit the other teams. That way you get the payout, and everybody still has "fun".

When you play for money fun takes a back seat. The people in your league are sore losers.

My advice, play in a deeper league where the talent is more spread out and the league has more parity. Then you don't have to worry about having a stacked team where everyone is an all-star on your roster. ;-)

my 10 teamer in a retard league would crush that team...I had no idea a league could be so stupid.

Jojjima
Pujols
Upton
Wright
Reyes
Crawford
Soriano
Beltran
Matsui

Figgins/Salty

Zambrano
Sabbathia
Oswalt
King Felix
Shields
C Young
J Weaver
Bettancourt
Soria
Big Unit

I understand I have some risks on this team that might fall apart, but that should just bring me back to the crowd and I am confident I can make more moves to separate gap again if that happens.

Just keep playing to win. It being an 8-team league, your team looks nice but every team probably have quite a few really good players. I used to play in 8-team leagues and even if you have good players at every position, you can lose if your guys are only hitting 30 HR and the other team's guys are hitting 35.

Correction... the rest of his league is a complete joke.

Why would you even bother playing in a 10 team league where you could put together a team that looked like that? You'd get bored after a week. :-[
