This deal was just made today. Keep in mind that last week in this league CoJack and Fuentes were both free agents. So instead of having the wherewithal to PICK UP Conor Jackson this putz trades Justin Verlander for him?
From a talent point of view this is a fair trade, far from wacky. So what if CJack and Fuentes were on waivers last week? CJack should not have been on waivers last week and Fuentes is the closer now, bye, bye Corpas. Gomez is a base stealing machine. On the flip side Mike Jacobs is getting cut all over the place, Brad is very volatile and I would rather have Fuentes than Lidge. Verlander is a good SP, but he is not an elite SP. IMO Verlander is a very over rated player in most circles.

I offered a guy Cliff Lee (who I picked up off the WW the day before) and Fukodome for Sabathia. He comes back and says "Well, I like the trade but since I'd have to drop someone- do you want Peralta, too?" I have Rollins on the DL and Keppinger was a pickup to fill in, so I couldn't hit the 'accept' button fast enough.
With one day to go for the league to veto, Sabathia has the 11K game. That was a LOOOONG day- but now he sits safely on my staff

do i just play in the wrong leagues? i never get stuff like this
It's a league with a bunch of work buddies and some money involved. I know form last year this guy has no patience whatsoever- so I threw the idea out there. I can honestly say I was having some second thoughts right after I accepted, since Fukodome is hitting well (and the rest of my team is not) and Lee would be a decent matchup pitcher or better, but then CC came around in the nick of time. Needless to say the guy will probably never trade with me again..

For example, I just saw this trade today:
Johnny Cueto Chris Duncan Alex Gordon Rich Hill Jason Isringhausen Kelly Johnson James Loney Oliver Perez Alex Rodriguez Joakim Soria Troy Tulowitzki
FOR
Jose Reyes
That's right. An 11-for-1 trade. And it apparently went through.
So keep an eye out when you're scouting players and if you see a trade that makes you chuckle, share it here.
NOTE: Please don't post trade questions here, just examples and discussion of wild trades.
That my friend is player dumping.
The craziest trade I have seen was Wellemeyer for Bedard.
In a nice case of hot-prospect inflation, I saw a C.C. Sabathia for Max Scherzer one-for-one. And it went down on Monday before Max's big debut (and after C.C.'s last two outstanding outings.

Geez. Is your league looking for members? I decided to rebuild for next year in a modified keeper (keep 5) I traded Beltran, Atkins, Hart, & Weeks for Arod one week into season and there are still owners in the league threating to quit over it because I got Arod.
