Where's the Cueto-Honks?

Ive been able to watch all of Cueto's starts and hes looked great in them all....except for 1-2 inning where he gets in trouble, and thats going to happen to rookie pitchers. His last start against Houston (where he had 2ks) he must of had 8-10 counts that were 1-2 and 2-2 and then the hitter would ground out or pop up. So it was just one bad game, the K's will be there. I still expect 9-11 wins, 150-160K, 180IP and an ERA around 3.9-4.1.

I'm watching today's game. Everything was up and/or away. He was up 0-2 or 1-2 in alot of counts and just never seems to waste a pitch. He has overpowering stuff and doesn't seem to walk alot of people so hold onto him. I just think he needs to learn how to pitch inside better and keep the ball low and he'll be fine. Nonetheless, he did not help my fantasy team...

Do you all think he is better than Volquez?? I actually picked up Cueto and Volquez early in the year and traded Cueto for Russell Martin. I'm thinking about trading Volquez to get Cueto back (I like his K/BB and WHIP better than Volquez) plus a hitter. Would this be a smart move??

Volquez has a good chance to implode with his high amounts of BBs and poor WHIP. However, both pitchers, including the slumping Cueto, are still worth owning, and should be picked immedialtey in 10+ team leagues. (*If I remember correctly, a young Cole Hamels started out great like Cueto, imploded for a bit, and then finished the season with excellent stuff).

Lincecum had 3 good starts, then 4 bad ones in a row. He got over the hump and was pretty strong the rest of the way. Hold and be patient.


Harang is good but i wouldn't say ACE. He is on the lower side of ACE if you are in desperate need. A 3.50-4.00 ERA with a 1.20+ whip isn't what you expect out of your ace. He is a great number 2 pitcher.

I would say Harang is a #1 guy for fantasy purposes. How many SPs would you take ahead of him? GIven that there are probably 10 or so pitchers I would take above him and there are usually 12 some teams in a league, he would be a #1 pitcher.

In a 12 teamer he is a number 1 but by default due to limited number of pitchers. In a 10 teamer i wouldn't call him an ace. I guess it all depends on your disposition. I personally like Chris Young over Harang simply because his ERA/WHIP are better but you know you won't get any wins out of him. If you like a high K/ Wins guy then Harang is probably more to your liking.
