Before tonight's game I was looking at his stats so far this season and he had 2 shutouts with 10 strikeouts in one of them. And then tonight I look at the boxscore of his game and he has another quality outing going 8 innings with 10 K's again. Could he be another great young arm on the same level as Lincecum and Gallardo?

I was looking at Dirty's stats Thursday and decided it would be worth the gamble to pick him up and give him the start (in a deeper league). Nice little payoff having his stats from tonight.

I wouldn't flat out declare him incapable of Linecum or Gallardo numbers (I actually hope he doesn't 'Gallardo' me with 11 runs in 2.2 innings) - but he'll get good K numbers and if he keeps pitching like this he'll get a few W's as well.

I don't think he will give you great ERA and WHIP numbers - but if he can put up serviceable 4.00/1.30ish numbers I think he will be a nice player to own even in standard leagues.

After tonights gem, I'm looking at adding him to my smaller league teams as well. 11.57 K/9 is just nasty.

I like this prediction, but maybe bump the ERA/WHIP a little, due to his propensity to blow up with men on base. Still, very nice for a 5th-6th guy

The guy would be a monster if he could maintain his control. But alas, that is easier said than done. I'm expecting a rollercoaster season with some ridiculous starts (like the last one) followed by some terrible starts when he can't find the plate with laser-guided GPS from NASA. By the end of the season it should all even out to something like 12 wins, 4-ish ERA, 1.3-ish WHIP, and 175 K. Considering he was undrafted in 99 percent of leagues, those numbers will turn a nice profit for the pittance it took to get him.
