McGowan hands down. I predict Marcum has a little difficulty at some point this year as he'll be forced to make many adjustments. McGowan has nasty stuff that he can always fall back on. For him, its his control and mental toughness, that's it.

Long term, McGowan has more value but with any trade offer for Utley, its gonna depend on who you are offering along with Marcum (or McGowan) to get Utley. Utley is playing out of his mind right now...
I think I might be able to land him. I'm in a 14 team league and suddenly find myself with a surplus of good pitchers - Carmona, McGowan, Marcum, Shields, Volquez, Jurrjens, Sanchez. The guy with Utley is completely horrid at the starting pitching position. I'm going to probably package two of those pitchers (maybe just one) with Polanco and go after Utley.
If I were to land Utley, I'd have a lineup with M. Cabrera, Berkman, Hamilton, and Utley. I'd say that alone would have me sitting pretty for the year.

still drinking the kool-aid, but the "its his control and mental toughness, that's it" line is bringing on waaaaaaaay too many flashbacks of Daniel Cabrera. who supposedly has the sickest stuff ever, but has never been able to make it all click. i hate to say, but i see that in McGowan...man, i hope im wrong.
I highly recommend everyone go out and make a low ball offer for him, in the hopes his manager isn't believing anymore.
He's got a near league high .356 BABIP going.......and he's yet to really harness his control......his BABIP WILL come down.....and given his track record, it should just be a matter of time before his control comes back around.
Him and BIllingsley could be two of the best buy lows on the market right now.........
I was discussing McGowan with our league's former commish (and perennial league champ) and he advised me to hold on to him. He pointed out his home/away splits, which I had never noticed.
So if you're a worried McGowan owner, try limiting him to home starts.
