Johjima's the superior defensive option ... and has a track record that suggests he'll return to hitting better than he's started this season (I can't vouch for the length of the contract, however :-o ).
That said, Clement's a serious masher. I have to agree with those here who suggest the M's are now looking at him to take over 1b (if he can handle it defensively) or DH. But a team with the Mariners' mean age and overall hitting production can't plan to block him for too long.
