Is it too much to expect: 30 HRs, 30 SBs, 100 Runs, 80 RBI, .300 AVG from this guy?
I made a risky trade in a fantasy league that I am having sellers remorse on. I had excess power on my team, Lee, Hafner, Manny, Markakis and Fielder and had few stolen bases. I also was needed some more depth at pitching. So I packaged Prince Fielder and ended up getting Corey Hart and Volquez for him.
My power really has not suffered at all after the trade. I happened to be matched up against the Fielder owner this week and am torching him in homeruns. Volquez pitched another gem this week and looks to be a solid pitcher. Corey Hart has been average this week.
The whole idea on my trade was that Corey Hart was David Wright-Lite. I think that he can possibly be a five stat stud. If that happens then I will feel good about my trade. Like I said, I am not missing the power that left me with Prince, but I think I may have overvalued Hart.
He might have the upside for a 100-30-100-30 season, but I would EXPECT an 85-25-80-20 season this year (what my baseline project for him was preseason). Much more than that and you're paying for potential.
He hit .295 last season with around 500 ABs. Why the 15 point drop?
Partly because if you get your hope up you're setting yourself up to be disappointed, and partly because he'll be getting around 75-100 more AB's this year if he's an everyday starter, whch warrants a 15 point drop IMO.
He actually has more steals than HRs, I'd say the power aspect is more worrisome at this point.
I think it's reasonable to project an average drop, his contact rate is low 80's and he doesn't walk a lot, so his plate discipline is relatively poor. I'd guess .280-22 HR-85 RBI-85 R-28 SB for his final numbers.
The power just isn't there so far for Hart, no way he reaches 30 HRs. I say .282 80 20 85 22. Solid, but not what anyone was hoping for on draft day. I would try and find an owner that still thinks highly of Hart or you could wait and hope his value goes up. Hart's value is pretty low right now.
The Cow
Give Snakes his due!!!! Snakes deserves the fantasy expert icon!!! Go Snakes!!!!
I really regretting drafting him in one of my modified keepers. It felt good @ 34 (88 overall) but I was well into my 5th or 6th beer. I don't think a .300 100-30-100-30 is entirely out of the question, but I think there was less risky picks for OF in that general area.
I suspect he will merely be a dissappointment due to ADP this year, and should be a nice grab in the 9-11th rounds next year.
