The Boston Herald reports that the Red Sox will call up Craig Hansen.
Hansen will take the place of David Pauley, who allowed five runs in 4 1/3 innings during his spot start on Tuesday. Hansen, who underwent sleep apnea surgery over the winter, has struck out 13 while allowing just four walks in 12 1/3 scoreless innings at Triple-A.
No buzz on this guy for the last 2 years, but has done very well this season. Rotoworld says Hansen will be taking over Pauley's spot, but I don't expect the Sox to use him as a starter as they did with Pauley last night. Hansen has 12.1IP in the minors this year and none as a starter. This is the guy who was supposed to be the Red Sox closer of the future before Papelbon was given the chance to close games.
