This isn't looking good...

Rockies manager Clint Hurdle said after Wednesday's game that he hasn't decided whether to remove Manny Corpas from the closer's role.

"I’ll talk to the player first," he said. "I need to think things through, talk to the people I need to talk to, have a conversation, and when we make a decision we’ll let you guys know right away." Hurdle was adamant before the game that Corpas was his guy. Now it looks better than 50/50 that he'll temporarily turn to Brian Fuentes.

I just grabbed Fuentes and dropped Willy Taveras. I'll take a chance with Fuentes and see if he can take the job back and run with a bit. Hopefully he puts up a good show and gets traded to another contender. If nothing perspires from this, I'll use his roster space to stream a SP.

I would be bitter-sweet redemption if he could take his job back after Corpas blew four saves, ala Fuentes last year.

In regards to someone asking if they should pick up Fuentes, it depends on who you are dropping.

I would pick him up if you have a boring bench player.

According to Rotoworld:

Rockies manager Clint Hurdle named Brian Fuentes the team's new closer.
He will take over for Manny Corpas, who has blown three consecutive saves. Fuentes was a three-time All Star closer before losing his job to Corpas last June, and while his skills have declined somewhat, he should be effective in the ninth inning. He's allowed three runs 11 innings this season, and makes a solid addition in leagues of all sizes.

According to Fanball:

Rockies: Corpas unseated as closer
The News
Manuel Corpas has reportedly been unseated as the Rockies' closer by Brian Fuentes, according to the Denver Post. He was demoted after blowing four saves in eight chances. He strugled with command of his pitches and Manager Clint Hurdle stated, "He's only been effective in a handful of appearances. He's blown three straight saves. It's apparent to me that it was time to shuffle the deck."

Our View
Corpas' fantasy value obviously bottoms out, but he will still be used in the eighth inning. You should try to scoop up Fuentes if available in your league, namely if you are stuck with Corpas.
