Anyone know whats wrong with this guy? as far as not striking out people and not being effective

Yes he looked terrible today and hasn't been striking people out at the same rate.

But his ERA/WHIP before today was .77/1.03!

It's called small sample size. He's thrown 12 2/3 innings this year. He'll be fine.

Heath Bell's strikeout ratio is down from 2007. Bell said it's partly because hitters seem to know he isn't going to walk them. "They're swinging early in the count," he said. As a result, Bell figures he might be able to reduce his pitches per inning, a good thing. His fastball velocity is also down from 2007, when he threw more pitches than any full-time reliever in the league.

Not sure exactly what to make of it, but as a Bell owner I have to admit I'm a little worried about the "velocity" part...

yeah, i was almost expecting an outing like yesterday's given the lack of dominance he's shown this year. given hoffman's job security as long as he doesn't get injured i'm wondering if bell has lost enough value for a spot on my team.

Im going to give him the rest of this week. I think he may rebound some, but the lack of K's and velocity are disturbing. We'll see what happens, he's on a short leash with me.

To me he's headed towards a very 3.40 ERA, 2-3 W, 60 K, 1.2 Whip type year..Far off last years numbers.
