I predicted this move the moment Cabrera got traded to Det.

For this year? Everyone knew that he'd become a first baseman by 2010 but thinking he'd get moved from 3b on the 4th week of the season is very surprising.

I've now gone from having a glut of top 3B in Braun and Cabrera last year in my keeper to no 3B after next year.

how does this move effect Cabrera offensively?
if he wasnt doing so good defensively at 3B could that have effected him at the plate and now more comfortable at 1B he should be better offensively?
or maybe moving to 1B where he doesnt have much experience he might not be as comfortable and that could effect him negatively on offence?

I just assume that every manager needs 2-3 seasons before finally making the most obvious decision that benefits the team. It's refreshing to finally see one who actually has the spine to make the correct call earlier than that.

Leyland knows what he is doing, and in the long run it will be for the best of the team.
Now how Cabrera reacts is a whole different story...

as a pujols owner...I might consider moving Wright for Cabrera if he gains 1b eligibility. Just to give me more options if Pujols shuts down early.

I don't think it will, defense is an after thought to him.

There may still be the possibility MCab plays 3rd enough next year to retain his eligibility. I don't know the Tigers well enough to know how they would play it, but its possible.

Owners in 15-GP eligibility leagues better hope Miggy gets 1 more start at 3B sometime this year! Odds are that he will, I think?
