Leyland announced after the game tonight, Guillen moves to third tomorrow and Cabrera moves to first. He said it's for the best of the team. The move is permanant, so don't be shocked when we see the lineup tomorrow.

Wow a move that actually makes sense.

I wonder if MCab is happy with this move? I doubt it. We'll see how this develops if it is indeed true.

From a fantasy perpective, I was kind of hoping this wouldn't happen for a few years, but at least Cabrera will keep one more year of 3B eligibility. And the 1B/3B flexibility is nice.
I wonder how the change will affect them both at the plate.

It was post game news conference, and those are the only words Leyland said. He wasn't gonna answer any questions on it, but didn't want everyone stunned tomorrow when they saw it. He called it a major announcement.

It has been obvious that this move would be necessary for some time. Good job by the tigers moving him before he became completely inept at third.

MCab was definitely a liability at third, but I honestly don't know if Guillen's legs will hold up for a season at 3B... that was the reason behind his move to 1B in the first place.
Let's see... Inge no longer at 3B, and Sheff still on the shelf. Does this give us any insight into whether Granderson will be playing CF tomorrow? I can't imagine that Leyland would DH anyone besides Guillen or MCab at this point, unless he was taking Magglio out of RF and putting Thomas/Rayburn/Inge there.
Hmm... I guess we'll just have to wait and see. In any case, I don't think changing things up a bit is going to be a bad thing. If anything it will give the defense a nice boost, and the lineup will remain mostly unchanged.
