So he's scheduled to visit the team doctor (which I thought he used to always use his own doctors instead of the team doctors right?) about the surgically repaired shoulder. Anyone have any more info on his injury?
...and please don't post 72 posts on how he sucks and you hate him here.

I've dropped him. Apparently, his shoulder is really causing him problems. I think he will never regain that violent swing that he once had and we all love.

I currently have him, and I would hang onto him until we hear something concrete. I haven't heard results from his meeting with the doctor on Sunday.

CBS SportsDetroit was without DH Gary Sheffield (sore shoulder) and second baseman Placido Polanco (stiff back). Manager Jimmy Leyland said Sheffield will not play Monday. Sheffield, who had offseason surgery to repair a tear in his shoulder, said he plans to visit a doctor once the team returns to Detroit. Sheffield had surgery last October to repair a tear in his shoulder. He also had surgery on the same shoulder in 1995. Sheffield believes scar tissue from the surgery is limiting his range of motion. "I want to get it looked at," Sheffield said. "I want to make sure I know what's going on, how much scar tissue I really need to break up. ... Obviously I can't throw a baseball right now and can't really reach across my body."
(Updated 04/20/2008).
Fantasy Analysis
Sheffield is batting .192 with one home run and two RBI in 52 at-bats this season. He has mentioned in the last week that the shoulder has been a problem for him all season at the plate. Sheffield looks like a must-sit for Fantasy Week 4 (April 21-27).

Roto WorldAccording to the Detroit News, both Placido Polanco (back) and Gary Sheffield (shoulder) will be unavailable Monday against the Blue Jays.
Polanco headed to Detroit over the weekend to have his sore back examined and Sheffield was scheduled to have his surgically repaired shoulder looked at by doctors Sunday. The newspaper speculates that both players are in danger of ending up on the disabled list.

I dumped him. I don't think he is worth wondering about, when he says he has so much limited motion that he can't reach across his body. Picked-up Rauch off FA for him.

Tigers: Sheffield gets two cortisone shots
The News
Gary Sheffield received cortisone shots in both shoulders on Tuesday and is expected to miss at least two more games. "I was told three days is realistic," he informs the Detroit News.
Our View
For a guy who has received probably dozens of cortisone shots in his career, we'd think he'd know the timeline by now. Anyway, fantasy owners should continue to sit Sheffield.

I don't understand why people are so quick to dump him. As frustrating as his missed games are, when he plays and starts hitting, he can help any team win.
There was nothing new discovered wrong with designated hitter Gary Sheffield. Could play as soon as tomorrow night. He got a cortisone shot in each shoulder.
He should be fine in time.
