Good to see Buchholz pitching well today. Nothing like playing the Rangers to get rid of that pesky high ERA.

He is going to struggle some this year because that is just the nature of the game, but the better he pitches the more likely the Red Sox make the playoffs.
Can anyone answer why so many of these younger pitchers have restricted pitch counts? I understand not overworking a guy, but if the Red Sox make the playoffs and Clay has pitched his maximum innings are they going to shut him down? I don't quite understand it all. Could someone break it down for me?

Could be Verducci's
30 inning theory.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

It will ibe interesting to see what they do when Colon is ready in a few weeks. Up to this point in the season, Buchholz has outperformed Lester so it's still uncertain as to who would get bumped (if someone does at all). Buchholz still has a minor league option so if they really want to limit his innings I could see them going that route. There was talk before the season that they would go to a hybrid 6-man rotation (before Schilling got hurt), I wonder if they would consider that again to limit innings.
I hope for my fantasy team's sake that they keeper Clay with the big league club. Lester really hasn't proven he can keep the walks down. He also seems to get rattled rather easily which is surprising considering his background.

I think he will be very inconsistent this year although I'd look for him to be more valuable post ASB.

I hope for my dynasty team's sake that they are as conservative/sensible as possible. If they send him down I will applaud.

I don't think there's anything more to prove or work on the minors for Clay. He should be up with the big league club for good.
