i drafted billy in the 17th round of a keeper earlier this month and i was wondering if he was getting the nod or the closer role ? I he is i think got a steal cause i have been reading that he has reworked his mechanics and is back to form for when he had all those saves for the jays. If someone could let me know if he has the job it would be geatly appreciated.
ha nice subject heading .... yeah i believe that the sox have announced that koch does have to job heading into the season and if you got him in the 17th round i think thats a steal.

he is the closer going into the season, but only becuase they want the lefthanded marte in a setup role(which i dont understand)
koch had a couple of great years(2002: 44 saves and 11 wins )
but the general consensus around baseball is that his fastball doesnt move enough, which is why he often gets pounded. i wouldnt take him this year. you have to think they will come to their senses eventually and plug marte in.
but from what ive heard they want marte in the pen because hes let handed. So i believe that even if koch does falter they will go with the japanese guy over marte.

Although I used to be a fan of the Koch, (lol), I too believe that when he throws, his pitches are as straight as olympic biathletes arrows. I give Koch until the end of April before White Sox come to their senses and give Marte the closer role. The Japanese guy is further down the totem pole, and is not being looked at in any way shape or form to be the closer in Chitown...but I would keep the Koch as insurance...lol
