Skip 'F1' Schumaker!

Postby TexasStampede » Sat Apr 19, 2008 2:43 pm

Wow how come there is absolutely no discussion of this guy? I dubbed him F1 because hes off to a start that rivals the F1's Michael Schumaker. Hes hitting close to .350 so far, with 16 runs. As we speak he's 2-2 today with his 3rd stolen base. I checked his ST stats and he hit a ridiculous .400 in 71 official abs.

Uh, Cardinals fans...please chime in. I heard he's supposed to play stellar defense and LaRussa really likes him...is this a one month abberration or is he the real deal at least for bavg and runs?

Due to LaRussa's seemingly perennial OF platoon, I just tend to avoid Cardinals Outfielders in general. I'd love to hear more about what's going on here, as well.

He's floated around the Cardinals in the minors and at the major league level for a few years now, but he's finally gotten an opportunity to play almost every day. He's been a great energy guy at the top of the lineup. I think he may be able to be a formidable leadoff hitter this season. He's also very fast and has a few SBs this year- I wouldn't be surprised to see him swipe 15 bases.

I would agree with you if you were talking about avoiding Duncan or Ludwick. But Brian Barton is the only one that may challenge Schumaker for playing time at the leadoff spot, and Barton's probably nothing more than an average bench player in the majors. I think Schumaker will be playing almost every day from here on out if he keeps producing.
