Is this the hardest season to predict from a fantasy perspective in recent history?

No.

If I recall, 1944 was rough, with the war and everything.

And 1995 was problematic because I had kidney stones in late February, which hurt my draft prep, but that's just me.

I think the most uncertain season we've seen recently has to be the one in which a lockout/strike loomed. Simply deciding whether to burn IP like there was no tomorrow (and with a work stoppage, there wouldn't have been) or stick to a regular gameplan was a major headache.
