Bonds admits he's less motivated...

Just saw an interview on ESPN where he said among other things about the passing of his father:

"I never had to analyze tape, my dad always did it for me"

"This offseason I didn't want to do anything, I had no motivation"

"The only reason I ever played was for the approval of my dad and Willie (Mays)"

"The first time I got in a batting cage this spring I broke down, I couldn't do it"


he went on to say that his mom told him that he had to do it for himself and that he was going to hit as many hr as he could

Hmmm... not good news. Combine this with Balco, and I'm not a big fan of Bonds this year. At least not a first-round fan.

I think all the steroid fuss is getting to him as well.

When asked about his trainer's testimony yesterday Bonds offered to submit to daily urine testing. Sounds like he's getting stressed out.

i feel bad for any guy that loses a family member, but the rest of what bonds is saying is just plain silly. "test me everyday, i have nothing to hide" sure you have nothing to hide. you've had four months to cycle off of the roids.

I saw the same interview this morning, and my take is a bit different. It seems to me that he wants, now more than ever, to get the home run record. He said that He's going to break it (in so many words).

The part that bothered me about his fantasy status is he admitted that his body isn't as healthy as it has been in the past. Some days he wouldn't work out because he couldn't...

This guy could have a rough year...but then again, he loves his dad so much that he could hit 70+ again...
