News: According to The Sports Xchange notes: C Chris Iannetta has started nine of the past 12 games, supplanting Yorvit Torrealba as the starting catcher.

Then Iannetta sits for both the Thursday and Friday games... is Hurdle pulling a "not so fast my friend"? Until something drastic happens to Torrealba, Iannetta as a 5+ start per week player is not going to happen in '08 it seems. Any hope for '09?

Hurdle is an idiot. I think he started Torrealba last night because he had a big RBI the night before. Fools gold IMO

Iannetta should be starting 5 out of 7 games a week.

Torrealba had two opportunities yesterday to come through with a big hit, and failed each time. The double play was especially a killer. However, he hit a solo home run, and in Hurdle's mind it's likely going to earn him five starts this week or something.

"Jun 29 Iannetta's platoon mate, Yorvit Torrealba, wants to be traded, he told the Tigers' radio network before Sunday's game at Detroit.

Recommendation: Torrealba's desire to be traded isn't surprising, because he is a veteran locked in a roughly even timeshare with the younger Iannetta. It's questionable whether another team will want the 1.5 years and $5.25 million remaining on Torrealba's contract. Obviously, Iannetta's playing time could be boosted significantly if the Rockies find a taker for Torrealba."
